Cool Graphical Information Maps (first!)

Below are examples of cool graphical information representations, images of the city of Portland with various informational layers of the city. It uses Google Earth technology along with Graphical Information data to create a city where one can see different “layers” of it. Examples of such layers could include different sections of the city based on residential, business, and open spaces, along with general statistics such as crime rate, earthquake activity, flood hazards, etc. This graphical information can be very informative for various reasons, such as for families who are looking for the safest place or most open space to move into. Similarly, construction companies can look for the safest place to build buildings, as well as account for earthquake activities or crime rates when building in certain areas. Using this new technology and graphical information representation, people can soon learn all about a city without ever being there. Sometimes however, it’s fun to learn something interesting and new about a place.
