Anyone can agree that technology has had a significant impact on traditional media. Although we can’t predict its survival within the next 10-15 years it's vital to understand that some reports have exaggerated their claims that newspapers have lost their usefulness. Yes, there has been a decline on news consumption but these changes can’t be attributed just on technological advancements. Studies show that generational gaps are responsible for the changes in readership and not so much the preferential treatment given to online sources. Many readers will stick to newspapers because of habit and others not. In fact, people tend to diversify their sources from offline to online media. This leads to the notion that traditional and digital media consumption should be seen as complimentary partners, one shouldn’t outweigh the other.
