Advertisers increase views of their webpage on StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon offers a unique way for businesses and blogs to advertise their websites and products. StumbleUpon is a discovery engine that searches for web pages, pictures, videos, and links that are tailored to the user’s interests and likes based on the user’s tastes and ratings of sites. When a business purchases a sponsored “stumble”, their ad will appear more often in the stumble cycle that appears on a person’s StumbleUpon searches. When these ads get high ratings (through the thumbs up or down icons), they are more likely to show up and be…stumbled upon. 

This app is conducive to owners of mobile devices because its target audience is really anyone who browses the web. Perhaps because the websites are suited for each individual, StumbleUpon is ranked as the top social media site with over fifty percent of the social media traffic in America. According to an article by Mary Yang, in less than two years StumbleUpon was able to double its users to 20 million people. Advertisers can benefit from such a large social media site and a fairly inexpensive price of ten cents per visit on a site.
