Taco Bell uses Instagram to promote their new taco

Instagram, an application made for the iPhone that allows users to edit and share photos in a social network setting, has become a prevalent outlet in the world of social media. According to an article on Cnet.com, as of July 2012 the app had surpassed 80 million users. As Instagram becomes more widespread, companies are starting to use it as an outlet for mobile marketing. Taco Bell has been using Instagram to promote their new Doritos Locos Taco. The fast food chain's "Live Mas to Win Mas" competition is awarding users with various prizes when they Instagram impressive pictures of Taco Bell food with the caption #livemascontest. Prizes range from gift cards and t-shirts to a $5,000 scholarship or a trip to the Taco Bell test kitchen. The idea for this campaign originated when the company noticed that Insta-grammers were starting to post pictures of their Taco Bell food.
